As an old-school Heinz consumer, I didn't believe the taste test from Cook's Illustrated, but they're right: Hunt's ketchup is better than Heinz. It's less sweet, thicker, better tomato flavor. Now just fix the bottle, Hunt's!

From the Hostel 2 publicity spam...

When director Eli Roth’s HOSTEL opened, there were reports that viewers were passing out and vomiting during the film’s graphic and gory story about travelers’ tortures and murder. Some quotes from Roth:

On who he would cast if he had to cast a starlet: “Kate Hudson. I’d love to torture her. But then again sitting through one of her romantic comedies is its own form of torture. If I had to choose between watching RAISING HELEN or vomiting because of something I’d seen on the screen in HOSTEL Part 2, I’d pick the vomit every time.”

Wow, never thought I'd agree about something with the director of Hostel 2.

That Bridge connector that collapsed? All fixed. Now open. In 25 days.

Only a week ago they were still predicting late June in the papers. Whoops.

Meanwhile, here's a fun link...

Profiles in Rudeness: This scooter rider parks between cars... standard procedure for motorcyclists, sure, but illegal nonetheless. But what makes this special is the van she parks behind is a work van getting ready to unload its equipment out of the back. She blocks the doors while the workers are getting ready to start, completely oblivious to them standing there. The look on their faces was amazing. I can only assume the reason they didn't say something is that they didn't speak English. Amazing!

I was in Union Square today and CHP had stopped traffic outside of Tiffany's. A black, heavily-tinted SUV was waiting, and a couple of paparazzi (or tourists with really nice cameras) were standing around waiting for whoever it was to come out. I heard one say to the other that he had no idea who was in there.

I stepped into William-Sonoma next door for a second, then popped out again only to see the motorcade (two cop cars with sirens going) driving away. Never figured out who it was. Anyone know who could command such attention from the law? I figure it had to be an ex-president or maybe Schwarzenegger. If anyone sees a news report on VIPs in San Francisco on May 1 can you let me know?

Strangely I was in Tiffany's only an hour earlier to get my wedding ring resized. Apparently my fat sausage fingers have gone up a full size in the last few years. You should have seen the look on the guy's face when I couldn't get his gold sizing ring off for a minute...
