Dining at the KFC is always enlightening. On the wall there's this collection of placards, filled out by the staff in response to management's request for them to each write a customer service statement. Most of them say stuff like "I want the customer to feel at home here" and so on. But one of them -- my favorite -- reads "I will try to sell as many apple turnovers as possible."

I don't think they were supposed to post that where customers could read it.

Sounds, um, disgusting.

SEATTLE, Dec. 15 -- A city renown for its world-class coffee and world-class food now has a restaurant that has combined the two in one menu item. Rippe's, Seattle's "Blue Jeans" steakhouse, has introduced the Seattle Signature Steak, a tender filet dredged in a spicy, smoky rub created with ground Starbucks(R) coffee beans.
